We all enjoy a great story, a fact that has been true practically since the dawn of time. The history of people was originally passed down using storytelling. Look at the things that are on your television: all day, every day, it's nothing but stories about pretty much every subject; even the news is just stories about world events. So, what you want to do is simply borrow that for your blog, and you can command the attention of your readers easier than you think.
You already know that people love news so it might be a good idea to create a category on your blog for niche-centric news. This is a lot easier when you've already set up news alerts based on your keywords--you could get it done in just a few minutes every week. It's a good idea to update this category at least twice a week so that you don't fall behind on what is currently happening. Another great benefit is with search engines--they're great for helping you catch trends. But really, you want to make your blog or site as sticky as possible, and this is a proven way to do that. So you need to make sure that the primary benefactors of your work are your readers and your audience.
Everyone, including you, has their own writing voice as long as they don't try to hide it when writing. Your voice is unique to you and comes from your personality. Allowing your writing voice to emerge naturally will empower your writing. Because it gives everything you write its own individuality that can't be found anywhere else is why we use the term empower. The writing will develop its strengths once your writing voice starts to express itself.
You know what you can do for this, set up a new category or a new page on your site or weblog that is called Op-Ed. Then you simply (but carefully) select the most relevant and timely issues and topics and write your content about that and in that format. You want them to seem special so you should only do this once a week or even once every other week.
Far too often, the only things we see when we look at articles and blog posts are large blocks of text. Well, that is fine but you need to be different; embrace the idea of making your content varied in format. Changing your format on some of your posts and pages helps break up the monotony that comes with pages and pages of nothing but black text on white space. Bullet points and lists are really great to use once in a while. You can start with your intro and second paragraphs and then list out the odd points that aren't paragraph worthy. Three, five or seven at the most will suffice, and make sure you only list an odd number of them. After reading the suggestions above on ways to create more content that offers more value, you will need to keep the following tip in mind. Be very careful not to overuse any particular strategy. It won't be as effective if you overuse it. So, you can easily make a list of writing devices such as we just mentioned, and then become aware of when you use them. Your skills will increase over time if you do this and use them in your writing.
